Achille Castiglioni，阿切勒.卡斯蒂格利奥尼，1918年生于米兰，1944年获得建筑设计学位。早在1940年，他与Livio(1911～1979)和Pier Giacomo(1913～1968)兄弟一起专门从事工业生产的检测。毕业之后，他开始为整体设计流程研究外观、技术和新材料。
1969年，经教育部批准，他担任都灵建筑学院教授，并讲授“工业艺术设计”直至1980年。至1993年担任米兰“工业设计”教授。
自1950年以来，他一直在展览装潢及展示检测和研究领域工作(米兰三年中心、Montecatini、Agip、Rai)。
他是1956年ADI(意大利工业设计协会)的奠基人之一。
纽约现代艺术博物馆展出了他的14件作品。他的其他作品被收藏于：维多利亚与艾伯特博物馆(伦敦)、工艺美术博物馆(苏黎世)、国立应用艺术博物馆(慕尼黑)、设计博物馆(普拉托)、Uneleckoprumyslove Prague博物馆(耶路撒冷)、丹佛艺术博物馆、特拉设计博物馆(维尔-莱茵)、应用艺术博物馆(汉堡和科隆)

1984年到1986年，应用艺术博物馆(维也纳)举行了他的个人展，之后在艺术学院(柏林)、米兰三年展、工艺美术博物馆(苏黎世)、海牙市立博物馆、马德里美术馆及巴黎蓬皮杜中心举行过个人展。

Achille Castiglioni于2002年去世。

A street lamp was the springboard for Arco, a ceiling lamp that does not require holes in the ceiling. The light source is projected eight feet away from the base, leaving enough room to serve dinner and sit at the table. The lamp can be moved by two people by inserting a broomstick through the hole in the marble base.
